Finally. Finally, the Big Apple.
Landed in Jersey on the 8th of April. Vara aka Varagaru picked me up from the airport. I hadn’t seen this joker since 2005. And, finally got to meet his wife, Sowmya too. This was long (really long) pending. Spent most of the following day working on some stuff for Vara. Met SuperLax, Gau and family in the evening. So glad to have met Surabi and her fiance, Jay before their engagement day. Some of us sneaked out for a few drinks at Buffalo wild wings and had some rocket launcher type wings sauce. Reminded me of a time with Rashu once when I thought I will die eating some spicy nonsense.
New York happened on Sunday. Covered a whole lot in one day. Did a cruise in the Hudson river around Statue of Liberty with a guided tour explaining the entire city’s history. The way to remember the three iconic bridges in the river is BMW – Brooklyn, Manhattan and Washington bridge. Had lunch at a quaint Irish bar, O’Brien’s. Yummy Irish brunch I gobbled.
Spent some quality time at Times Square. What briliant vibe this place has to offer. Those giant screens all across is super trippy. Walked around a lot soaking in the energy. Walked past Radio City music hall, Rockafeller centre, Broadway and finally went inside the famous Central Park. Apparently over 300 movies scenes were shot here including the likes of Face Off, Independence day, Spider Man, Maid in Manhattan and Borat. We got a guide to explain the different spots within the park.
Vara and Sowmya took me to a diga restaurant – Hoysala. You won’t miss India in Jersey. Indians, Indian restaurants, Indian stores…yeverything is here.
Back to Nashville on Monday for round two madness. More updates from there shortly. And here we go with my first video from this trip followed by some classic patel shots.
