Oh boy! I hope to keep this post short, but there so much to write about last weekend.

The fun started in the southwest flight to Vegas. The crew were so damn funny. There was dancing, cheering and decent bit of stand-up, all while explaining the normal boring safety procedure. They seem to really love what they do, and make it a very entertaining experience for the passengers.

We checked into Monte Carlo which is on the Las Vegas Boulevard also known as the Vegas strip. This place is unreal. Casinos and shows almost everywhere. I mean there were slot machines at the airport itself. Its a city that parties 24/7, seven days a week. Inside a casino, you don’t even have a clue if its day or night. And there are tunnels and trams connecting one with another. Unbelievable.

Our first stop was at 800 Degrees Pizza. Nice concept, choose the base and choose all that you need on it separately. Kinda like Subway. We quickly moved to  Diablo’s for a drink, while watching the 3rd place game at the World cup. Really nice place, good music, great food and awesome alcohol choices. We ended our trip by going here again just before leaving.

Tried my luck with Poker all three days. Didn’t make any, didn’t lose big either. But super happy that I managed to gamble at the mother of all places to do so. By the way stud poker is an endangered game. Hardly any casino has it anymore. Everyone’s moved to Texas Hold’em. Strange, but true. So, spent a lot of time scouting for casinos that had stud poker. Ate, shopped, drank, walked around, checked which shows to catch, watched the fountain at the Bellagio (Felt like I just robbed 3 casinos with 10 others). The day was busy.

My marathon birthday started on Sunday with watching the World cup finals at Whiskey Down at the MGM grand. The entire place was packed. We got lucky with a really sweet girl named Sarah from Vancouver offering us to share her table. What a match. Worthy of a final. And yup, ze zermans made it.

Headed straight to the MJ one show after that. OMJ! Don’t think I will watch any performace better than this. It was a two hour spectacle. The amount of time that’s gone into making 10 minutes of any of the part would’ve been a few years. Not kidding. A true tribute to the King of pop. If you ever get to catch this show, don’t think twice. Trust me.

2014-07-15 01.05.41After which we went to watch another legend do his thing. The David Copperfield show at the MGM grand. Agreed, its all an illusion, but this guy pushes it a few notches. Making people disappear, sending us a e-mail from the future, getting an entire car on stage – was no big deal.  Another show worth every penny. What was even sweeter was this tweet. I mean, he’s David Copperfield. Even if this is managed by his manager, think it was very sweet of him to respond. Reminds me of the number of shows I have been to and tweeted without getting any response from people who are…well, whatever.

So, a World cup finals, two unbelievable shows and am thinking what else can I do to make it the best ever. Ahem! Refer to the previous post if you haven’t already. Now when I think of it, am not even sure how I ended up doing this. The only thing I told myself was that I did scuba a few years ago (and am scared of water), this shouldn’t scare me that much. Boy, was I wrong. The skydive las vegas team is outstanding. They put together an experience like no other. Everything was perfectly co-ordinated, ensuring safety and making you feel special. The fact that I wore an appropriate t-shirt was very amusing to everyone there. Some instructors even suggesting why would this guy need a chute. Mike was my tandem jump instructor and man! did he do a good job. The only time you have so much fun with a guy strapped behind you when you are straight.

Ate, gambled and drank before leaving the best tourist destination in the world. Cannot thank Sri and AV enough for making this happen. I have had a few memorable birthdays, but this, will take a few years to beat, if at all.
